The Boroko Smart Alarm app is the alarm half of a two-app home automation app suite that is responsible for the remote control to the home alarm unit. It uses short-range wifi and remote SMS connectivity to an electrical unit. The electrical unit is installed in the house and has a mobile SIM card inserted. The SIM card mobile number is used to receive SMS Commands from the user that are then interpreted by the device to toggle arm and disarm the alarm units connected to the device. The core functionality of this app is to provide remote access to the home alarm unit(s) and that is currently catered for by the SMS functionality within mobile devices.

Users purchase the Unit from Shok Electronics which is then installed by a qualified electrical technician. The Boroko App then gives the user opportunity to use their mobile device to interact with the alarm in their home. The alarm in this case.
